Headwaters at Mt Shasta City Park
City of Mt Shasta, CaliforniaIn 2007, Covey Pardee Landscape Architects was retained by The River Exchange, a local environmentally oriented non-profit, to work on Mt Shasta City Park. An important feature of the park is an exceptionally large spring, that is a headwater of the Sacramento River. The ‘Headwaters’ Spring site is beautiful and very popular. Unfortunately, overuse and intense foot-traffic seriously degraded the area surrounding the spring. Covey Pardee developed a design and construction documents to unobtrusively improve the site, control foot-traffic, and restore the sensitive habitat. The project also included new pedestrian access across the park, benches, tables, and transplanting of local native plants.
